The main aim of the ITEC Level 5 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is to provide experienced Practitioners currently working in Sport and Active Leisure, including Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists and Sports Massage Practitioners with the requisite understanding and complex skills and techniques to work as an Advanced Sports Massage Practitioner.
Level 4 Sports Massage or if you do not have a level 4 Sports Massage qualification, you can book both of these together to save money!
Advanced Practitioners will be equipped to work with clientele ranging from Recreational Sport and Active Leisure enthusiasts to professional sports persons and elite athletes.
Throughout this qualification, Practitioners will develop an advanced understanding of the biological basis for complex massage/soft tissue methods and the impact of nutrition and hydration on the effects of treatment. The effectiveness of complex/soft tissue methods will also be evaluated as will research undertaken on the use of these methods in Sport and Active Leisure.
Practitioners will develop the understanding and skills to carry out and analyse comprehensive subjective assessments of clients. Practitioners will undertake detailed bio-mechanical assessments, test and analyse the integrity of the muscular and neurological systems and develop complex treatment strategies based on sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based research. Practitioners will also develop the understanding and skills to prepare, apply and evaluate a range of complex Sports Massage/Soft Tissue methods to prevent and manage injury.
10 days practical training, plus 25 hours case studies at Level 5, plus home study.
